Dominik Hartmann is a Professor at the Department for Economics and International Relations at the Federal University of Santa Catarina. He holds a PhD in Innovation Economics from the University of Hohenheim, Germany (2014); Master's Degree in International Economics and Development from the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain (2010); and a degree in Business Administration from the University of Augsburg, Germany (2006). He was an EU Marie Curie postdoctoral fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA) in 2014-2015, and a visiting fellow in several further leading research institutions in the Netherlands, UK, Spain, Turkey, Peru, and Brazil. His research analyzes the relationships between innovation, structural change and inequality and has been published in journals such as World Development, Research Policy, Structural Change and Economic Dynamics, Social Indicators Research, The R Journal, and Scientometrics. Moreover, he has experience in several consultancy projects for the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) on smart diversification and inclusive growth strategies.

DOMINIK HARTMANN

Diogo Ferraz is a professor at the Department of Economics and the Postgraduate Program in Applied Economics (PPEA) at the Federal University of Ouro Preto (UFOP), and a professor at the Production Engineering Postgraduate program at the São Paulo State University (UNESP). Economist, Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering - the University of Sao Paulo and visiting researcher at the Department of Economics at the University of Hohenheim (Germany). He works with quantitative methods, such as econometrics and mathematical models (Data Envelopment Analysis - DEA). His research interest includes economic complexity, human development, and sustainability.

Laís Fernanda da Silva de Souza é aluna de Mestrado do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Desenvolvimento Econômico da Universidade Federal do Paraná (2022). Formada em Ciências Econômicas pela Universidade Estadual de Maringá (2019). Membro da European Complex Systems Society. Com experiência profissional no setor financeiro, atualmente trabalha no desenvolvimento de pesquisas sobre os impactos das mudanças estruturais no desenvolvimento humano e social.

Eva Yamila Amanda da Silva Catela holds Master in Economics from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (2004) and PhD in Economic Development from the Federal University of Paraná (2009). Her research interests include economic growth, innovation and technology, and international trade. She is currently a professor at the Federal University of Santa Catarina.

Ben-Hur Cardoso is graduated in Computational Physics and Master in Theoretical Physics at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul, doing research about Kinetic Exchange Models of Wealth and Urban Scaling. He is currently a PhD candidate at Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, doing research on the relationship between productive structures and social mobility. His research was published international journals, such as Physica A and Communications in Nonlinear Science and Numerical Simulation.

BEN-HUR CARDOSO

Guilherme Viegas has a bachelor's degree in Economics from the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC) and works as a data scientist in the private sector. His research focuses on economic complexity, human capital, knowledge spillovers, and spatial econometrics.

GUILHERME VIEGAS

Flávio Pinheiro is an assistant professor in Data Science at the Information Management School of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa in Portugal. His research applies ideas and methods from physics of complex systems to study socio-economic phenomena, such as the role of complex networks in the diffusion of opinions, ideas, and innovations, but also their impact in strategic decision-making. In the past, Flávio hold a postdoctoral appointment at the MIT Media Lab and has worked since 2016 as a consultant for the World Bank in several projects. He holds a Ph.D. in Physics from Universidade do Minho (Braga, Portugal) and a MSc & BSc from Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa (Lisboa, Portugal).

FLÁVIO PINHEIRO

Solange Marin graduated in Economics from the State University of Maringa (1998), Masters in Rural Development from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (2001) and Ph.D. in Economic Development from the Federal University of Paraná (2005). Doctoral research stay at Marquette University, Wisconsin/USA, under the supervision of Professor John Bryan Davis. She is currently a professor at the Federal University of Santa Catarina. She has experience in the field of economics, with emphasis on social welfare economics, development, methodology and philosophy of economics and history of economic thought. Her current topics of interest are: multidimensional poverty and inequality, economics and complexity with an emphasis on methodological discussion and history of economic thought and feminist economics, which rescues the contribution of women to economics.

SOLANGE MARIN

Marcelo Arend is currently a Professor at the Department of Economics and International Relations and the coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Economics at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC). He holds a Post-Doc from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (2015/1016,), a Doctor in Economics from UFRGS (2009), a Master in Economics from UFSC (2004) and a Bachelor of Economic Sciences from UFSM (2002). In the period 2012/2013 he was a Visiting Researcher at the Institute for Applied Economic Research (Ipea). He works in the fields of political economy, structural change, and economic development, with particular emphasis on industrial development, and technological and institutional change.

MARCELO AREND

Lukas Reiter Pezzini holds a Master in International Economics and Commerce from the Polytechnic University of Marche (2016) as well as a Master in Development Economics from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (2020). Currently he is a PhD candidate at the Federal University of Santa Catarina, working on the linkages between knowledge migration, institutions, and economic complexity.

LUKAS REITER PEZZINI

Geziel Fernández holds a bachelor degree in Economics from the Pontifícia Universidad Católica del Perú and a Master degree in Economics from Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC). Currently he is a PhD candidate in Economics at UFSC, exploring how universities learn and contribute to economic development. His research interests include innovation and technology, complex systems, economic development. He is also a violinist and violine teacher.

He holds a degree in economics from the State University of Santa Catarina (UDESC). He has experience in the public sector and in cultural economics. His research focuses on cultural economics, human capital, and applied microeconomics.

LUCAS LUZ

Enzo Mariano Professor at the São Paulo State University (UNESP), Campus Bauru, in the Department of Production Engineering. Graduated in Pedagogy from the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) and in Mechanical Production Engineering from the University of São Paulo (USP), where he also did the Master's and Ph.D. in Production Engineering. He teaches courses in Economics, Industrial Economics, Economic Engineering and Statistical Quality Control at the undergraduate level. Coordinator of the postgraduate course in production engineering at Unesp Bauru, where he teaches the course “Human Development: Quantitative and Qualitative Methods”. He has oriented several scientific initiation, master's and doctoral students on topics related to human development and sustainability. Author of several articles and book chapters in national and international journals; it also had three published books. For two years he was editor-in-chief of the journal Gestão de Ooerações e Sistemas (GEPROS).

ENZO MARIANO

Herick Fernando Moralles is a professor at the Department of Production Engineering at the Federal University of São Carlos (DEP – UFSCAR). He holds a bachelor degree in economics from the State University of São Paulo (UNESP), master's and Ph.D. degrees in Production Engineering from the University of São Paulo (USP). Dr. Herick was also a visiting researcher at the Department of Economics in the University of Barcelona (Spain) and a post-doctorate researcher at the Production Engineering Department at the University of São Paulo (USP). Currently he is leading the ERMES lab (Regional Economics and Sustainable Structural Change Laboratory), a research group that established a joint guideline within the scope of the regional economics and econometric methods, covering topics such as FDI (Foreign Direct Investment), structural change, sustainability, innovation, economic development, and institutions.

HERICK FERNANDO MORALLES

Fernanda Pereira Sartori Falguera is currently a PhD student in the Department of Production Engineering at the São Paulo State University (UNESP), Bauru campus. Her graduation was in Information System and her Master’s in Computer Science at UNESP. Her main research area is Sustainability, Human Development and Gender Equality. Other research interests include cultural values, eco-efficiency, innovation, and agile management. She also has an MBA in Strategic Management at University of São Paulo (USP), a specialization in Business Statistics and Analysis at Rice University, and more than 20 years of professional experience in Information Technology sector, leading teams, and projects.

Eduardo Polloni-Silva holds a Bachelor's degree from the Federal University of Grande Dourados (UFGD) and a Master's degree from the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar), both in Production Engineering. MARY KALTENBERG

Michele received his Ph.D. in Development Economics from the Federal University of Paraná (Brazil) in 2014 and his master's degree in Economic Management and Policy in 2010 from Strathclyde University (UK). Currently, he is Adjunct Professor in the Department of Economics and International Relations at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (Brazil). In 2020-2021 he was a post-doc/visiting researcher at the International Institute of Social Studies in the Netherlands. Previously, he was a researcher at the International Policy Center for Inclusive Growth, a research center of the United National Development Programme and a trainee at the Development Bank of the Council of Europe. His research has been focused on education, inequality, policy evaluation and development economics.
